Europe Day 2016 Celebrations in Stockholm

The celebration of Europe Day will take place at Södra Teatern in Stockholm on 9 May. There will be both indoor and outdoor activities at the venue. All activities are open to the general public.

Inside the theatre there will be a full-day programme with seminars and debates on current EU topics. Commissioners, government ministers and members of the European Parliament will be part of the programme.  EU embassies, the Europe Day organisers and a number of EU related authorities and organisations will display information material, and the “European of the Year” award will be handed over at a special prize ceremony. The indoor activities will end with a theatre play, “In Search of Europe”, sponsored by the EU Presidency, the Netherlands.

Outside the theatre, at Mosebacke square, entertainment will be offered from 11.00 to 14.00 hrs. There will be music and dance performances from groups representing 19 EU member states. The performances include Estonian folk music, German Polish piano and song duo, Spanish Flamenco group, Czech Clown theatre, Slovenian and Slovakian musicians and Swedish African band performances. In addition there will be face painting, video screenings, balloons, lotteries, quizzes and food tasting from all corners of Europe.
