Since the presentation of the Schuman Declaration on 9 May 1950, the European Union has grown to become a symbol of strength and unity. To celebrate all that we have achieved in this time, this ‘Europe Day’ the Commission is inviting you to enjoy a day of activities, learning and family fun right in the heart of Brussels.
The Berlaymont – one of the Commission’s most iconic buildings – will be open to the public on Saturday 4 May from 10:00–18:00 (last entry is at 17:30). The event is free to access and there is no need to register in advance.*
Once inside, you are invited to explore our villages, the history of the EU, our values, and the achievements of the European Commission. That’s just the start. This is your chance to look behind the scenes and find out how we’re building a strong, diverse, democratic and digital EU that stands by its people, and is committed to building a greener future and a resilient economy.
There will be plenty of games and activities for all ages, artist performances and food tastings, as well as opportunities to meet members of our team. You are also invited to take a peek at the 13th floor meeting room where President von der Leyen and the college of Commissioners make decisions that work for YOU. Don’t forget to admire the view!
For EU citizens getting ready to vote in the upcoming European elections, you’ll find information to help you make the most of your vote.
The day doesn’t stop there. Before you leave, take some time to visit Experience Europe, a family-friendly immersive exhibition that shines a light on the history and values that shape the past, present and future of the EU.
